Ephesians 3: Bible Gateway

Shine Your Light Christian

May 6, 2016

Ephesians 6:Not with eyeservice, as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

Colossians 3: 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

It is so important for those who are Christians to be Christians in church circles and outside of them. People notice what we do or what we say or how we treat others. Even in a secular workplace, words we speak matter. Even in a secular job, we should be serving whole heartily – knowing that what we do is for God. We not only care about keeping the company’s standards – which we should and we must – but we should live as though we are serving Christ with the people we communicate with.

Only God and you know if you are giving your best effort. You should truly care for people who you don’t even know or only sometimes see. It seems a cliche but it is true. You might be the only bit of Jesus Christ that anyone sees.

Give your best even if the person isn’t at his or her best. The truth is most people need encouragement most of their lives. People without Jesus, do not know the peace or the inner strength. Their life is like a roller coaster of events depending on the occurrences of the day or the season of their lives.

  1. Make eye contact to show respect for them.
  2. Serve with excellence and diligence.
  3. If there are other options for the person,  but they involve extra effort on your part, give them. What you do for others will only come back to you either directly to you or to your loved ones.
  4. Be kind. Be considerate. Be polite.
  5. Try to say some personal greeting such as ” Thank you” or have a nice day or something kind But actually mean it.
  6. If the person says anything that lets you know he or she isn’t feeling the best, pray for the person – just offer a prayer to God for a special blessing on that person.

Our service in our secular jobs can impact people not only to benefit the business but that can affect the people who we do business with. Also, there is always a chance the person might receive something from your cheer and excellence that causes him or her to want to know God. // // // //
